Well,well,well..atlast one of head falls and this time its dravid's. Its not only greatest act of stupidity by the indian selectors, something a step ahead of it.How can you drop a person who has surrendered himself for the welfare of the indian cricket.
He has 10000 runs to his name, has kept wickets when the team wanted, played at all the positions. His acts has been un-indian...un-indian in the sense, you dont expect an indian to do this..like..he himself quit the captaincy, when he could have been captain for team atleast for another year or so.He realiesed that he wasnt able to give his best..and gave up the captaincy for the betterment of indian cricket.
When he was captain,he didnt bat at no 3,where he could have very well settled him,but he wannted to groom youngsters, give them a chance..instead he used to bat at 4,5,6 or sometimes even at no 7. As sanjay Manjerekar said, rahul dravid has been one of the most selfless cricketer of indian cricket in past decade. Still, these bunch of jokers so called Indian selection committe dropped such a commited cricketer,he definetly deserved a better deal.
Morever,Dravid had an avg of 30+ in the england series and had 1 bad series against australia. You have dropped such a worldclass player just because he didnt perform in one series?.There are other seniors in team who didnt perform for 2 years, still they are in team. And wats more strange is,sehwag been choosed on behalf of dravid.
Vengsarkar says that they have selected a winning team, now mr.vengy please tell me,why have you selected 7 openers in your team,is this called winning combination?
I could continue to blast Mr.Vengsarkar, but lets just pray that he regains his sense soon.
Here is what some of current and former players view on Dravid's Exclusion :
"The advantage is for us. Because if India don't perform well or lose the first two games, the pressure will increase on their selectors and captain and management that they dropped someone like Dravid," - Younis Khan,Pakistan
"The first two matches of any series are always important. His absence will make a difference to our attitude because he is a world class player and one of the best in the world" - Mohammed Asif Pakistan
"He is a very difficult batsman to dislodge and as a bowler I never enjoyed bowling to him and his wicket was always a prized one for me.I was not expecting their selectors would drop him so soon because he is such a quality player." - Shoaib Akhtar - Pakistan
"He is such an experienced player and has scored so many runs. His presence has always been invaluable to the Indian team. So I am surprised they should drop him for the first two games which eventually will set the pace and mood of the coming series."- Yashir Hameed,Pakistan
"He has been out of sorts and his body language has not been very good in recent games. So it is good he is rested for a while and India do have some exciting young players coming up and in line to secure their place in the Indian team," -Haroon Rasheed-Fmr Pak Coach
"Let's put it this way -- I am surprised at his omission. He's such a class player, a virtual wall against the opposition. We will definitely miss him," Lalchand Rajput ,Indian Team Manager
"The fact that Dravid has been dropped for two one-dayers does not mean the end of his one-day career. We would need his experience for the Australian tour. For the amount of cricket that is being played, we will need about 20 to 25 players who are fit all the time. One of them (the seniors) should be rested after six games on the trot if we need to preserve them for another two years as Test players," - Ravi Shasthri
I am sure that dravid will make a come back, but what i feel bad is the way he has been treated.RD has been treated shabily by these jokers, lets hope indian cricket moves in right direction. But with dravid being dropped,i dont think i would have the same intrest and craze for cricket like before.
Dravid, you will always remain to be our hero. You are not only a great person, but a gem of a person.
